1. Who we are

MOHD Technologies ("we", "us", "MOHD") is the data controller for personal data collected through motech.co.tz. We are based in Tanzania, at P.O. Box 42165, Dar es Salaam and P.O. Box 275, Zanzibar.

2. What we actually collect

We deliberately keep this short. motech.co.tz has no login, no user accounts, no analytics or advertising trackers, and no server-side database that stores visitor personal data. Here is everything that touches personal data on this site:

3. Why we process it (purpose & legal basis)

• To respond to your enquiries — legal basis: your consent, given by initiating contact (PDPA §6; GDPR Art. 6(1)(a)).
• To generate your "Find My Plan" result and, only if you choose, forward it to us — legal basis: your explicit consent, given by ticking the consent box before sending (see §4).
• To remember your language choice — legal basis: legitimate interest / strictly necessary for the service you asked for (site functionality), so no separate consent is required.
• To keep the site secure and running (server logs) — legal basis: legitimate interest in preventing abuse and maintaining uptime.

We never sell personal data, and we never use it for automated profiling, credit-scoring, or advertising.

4. Sharing with WhatsApp (Meta) — the one third party involved

When you tap a WhatsApp button or link on this site (including the "Get My Plan on WhatsApp" button), your device opens WhatsApp with a pre-filled message. Nothing is sent until you press send inside WhatsApp. From that point, your message is processed by WhatsApp Ireland Limited / WhatsApp LLC (part of Meta), under WhatsApp's own privacy policy and terms — we do not control how WhatsApp itself handles that transmission. We only receive the message you actually chose to send, in our WhatsApp Business inbox.

Because of this, the "Find My Plan" quiz asks you to explicitly tick a consent box before the WhatsApp button becomes active — so nothing about your answers or name can be shared without a clear, informed, opt-in action from you.

5. International data transfers

If you contact us via WhatsApp, your message may be processed on servers outside Tanzania (including the EU and USA), governed by WhatsApp's own safeguards. Our website hosting and email may also involve infrastructure outside Tanzania. Where personal data leaves Tanzania, we rely on the receiving service's own recognized safeguards (such as WhatsApp's data-processing terms) rather than transferring data ourselves to any third party.

6. How long we keep it

• Quiz answers and any name typed into "Find My Plan": never stored by us unless you send them via WhatsApp — they are cleared the moment you close or refresh the tab.
• WhatsApp / email / phone conversations: kept for as long as reasonably needed to handle your enquiry and maintain business records, then deleted or anonymized — typically no longer than 24 months of inactivity, unless we're legally required to keep them longer.
• Language preference (local storage): stays on your device until you clear your browser data or change it yourself — we cannot access or retrieve it remotely.
• Server logs: rotated by our hosting provider on a short cycle, typically within a few weeks.

7. Cookies & local storage

motech.co.tz does not set any advertising or third-party tracking cookies. We use two small, functional browser-storage entries, both "strictly necessary" under ePrivacy/GDPR guidance and requiring no consent banner to operate — though we show one anyway, for transparency:

You can clear both at any time through your browser's site settings — this will not break the site, it will simply reset your language to English and show the notice again.

8. Your rights

Whether the PDPA or the GDPR applies to you, you generally have the right to:

• Be informed — know what data we hold and why (this page).
• Access — request a copy of any personal data we hold about you.
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate information.
• Erasure ("right to be forgotten") — ask us to delete data we hold about you, where we have no legal reason to keep it.
• Restriction & objection — ask us to limit, or object to, how we use your data.
• Portability (GDPR) — request your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time, where our processing relies on consent — this won't affect anything already done before you withdraw it.
• Lodge a complaint — with Tanzania's Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) if the PDPA applies to you, or with your local supervisory authority if the GDPR applies to you.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details in §1 or §10 — we will respond within 30 days.

9. Children's privacy

motech.co.tz is directed at business owners, professionals, and institutions — not at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has shared personal data with us, contact us and we will delete it.

10. How we keep it safe

• The entire site is served over HTTPS (encrypted in transit).
• We do not run a server-side database of visitor personal data — there is simply less to protect, and less that could ever leak.
• Access to our WhatsApp Business inbox and business email is restricted to authorized MOHD Technologies staff.
• Fittingly, our Mabadiliko venture provides PDPA compliance audits and governance advisory to other organizations — we hold ourselves to the same standard we advise our clients to meet.

We may update this policy as our services, or the law, change. Material changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review it occasionally.
